Erika!!! I love it...love it...love it! You have a fantastic sense of color and the loose manner is perfect! The artist that came to mind when I saw this was Childe Hassam!
ReplyDeleteThanks Theresa, I'm honored and will take Childe Hassam! Funny I was going to keep in mind Maurice Prendergast while painting this but I forgot lol!
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty funny....as I read Theresa's comment on Hassam, I thought to myself, well, I see some Prendergast - and THEN I read your own comment, Erika! Wow, your watercolors are so fresh and full of glowing color - this one too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Hillary, if I had kept in mind Pendergast, I'd have more white separations huh?
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in your art work. Very pleasing. I had to look up Hassam and Prendergast. Interesting to learn more about art. Also, I am the clone of my daughter, Tiglizzy. We both have the middle name of Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteHi and thank you Tiglizzyclone clone of Tiglizzy! I see you're from Napa? Ohhh next time you're in San Francisco, do make it a point to spend at least half a day at the FAMSF (Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco) - both Hassam and Prendergast are well represented there. Gosh it's been a million years since I was there, I hope I'm right!
ReplyDeleteErika, beautiful painting perfect for the historic night!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOk all you smarty-pants! Some of us don't even know who you are talking about! Show-offs!
ReplyDeleteErika, your watercolors are really vibrant...seems you got a jump up lately?
Red
Yes Akiko! I usually tend to be the last DSDF in but I made myself finish the piece for the event :) Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteRed I definitely got what I wanted from taking Charles Reid's workshop plus a BONUS, I never realized I'd also a boost for my drawing! Did you read the article I wrote in the Artyfacts? :)
ReplyDeleteOh and about the artists... I was wondering how a YOUNG artist as yourself can get caught up about other artists. I usually go out of my way to visit fine art museums when I visit a town, state or country so that was very helpful and of course the art history classes for which I only studied for the week of the exams lol
ReplyDeletea wonderful painting and a wonderful day for The WORLD!
ReplyDeleteSo exciting
Erika--I read your Charles Reed entry... lucky you! I have read his books and have seen a few videos. The influence shows in your Capitol and Cow paintings—nice.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary! Thanks so much for stopping by and comment. Yes a most magical day, thanks for sharing it with me!
ReplyDeleteHi Bill! Wasn't I lucky?? :) And I do plan to hang on to that luck by putting into practice what I've learned, thanks for acknowledging! I hope you have the opportunity to meet Reid some time!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors! The yellow-orange sky is great--such a beautiful shade.
ReplyDeleteHassam, Prendergast ... Bonnard.
HPB I like that recipe! And I rhyme too how about that? Thanks Laura!
ReplyDeleteHey Erika! Glad you got to see the boys all dressed up!! Your paintings are breathtaking as ever. Your Pink Health canvas painting is gorgeous. Love this one too! Miss you! True
ReplyDeleteI will have to visist the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco soon. It has been years since I have been there.
ReplyDeleteErika I like that you aren't afraid to vote no and go against the majority in DSFDF... and then tell everyone why.
ReplyDeleteHi Truly, I enjoy getting my cute boys fix by visiting your blog ;) xo
ReplyDeleteTiglizzyclone I wish I lived near a fine art museum! Hopefully in a year the one being built in the next town away from me will be open :)
ReplyDeleteAlice you just love me and anything I do lol I love you too xox
